This week Kindergarten worked on the letter D. We made a word chart, practiced writing the letter, identified it
in print, did some worksheets, and made an entry in our picture dictionary book. In math we reviewed positions (behind, between,
in front of, over, under, etc) and started working on patterns. We also read a chapter in our Junie B. book everyday.
This week we Junie B. Jones Has a Monster Under Her Bed. We have also reviewed the sight words; 'my', 'the', 'a', 'that',
'and', 'I' and 'an', and have worked on our word families with the short a sound. Our new sight words this week are
'said' and 'is'. Have your child look for these words while you are reading. During circle time we worked on our days,
months, counting, and patterning. I have also been quizzing them on the color words. Next week I may start number words.
In science we are talking about living and nonliving things, and how air and water help plants and animals. We also
did a couple of projects. We made a Horn of Plenty and a Thankgiving wreath. We also had a great time with our reading
buddies. Have a great weekend!
Next week Kindergarten will work on the letter U. We will make a word chart, practice writing the letter, do some
worksheets, and make an entry in our picture dictionary. In math we are going to continue working on patterns and finish
out our chapter on Friday. In science we will finish chapter 1 after talking about plants and animals needs. We
will begin chapter 2 by talking about how living things grow and change. We will also continue to work on our
short a and short i word families, and continue with our sight words. Our art project next week will be a "what I am
thankful for" turkey. On Monday we will have our visit from Steve Templeton from channel 4.
Kindergarten has a website. Go to www.stlibory30.org and click on academic departments, scroll down and click on my name. Don't forget to turn in the Pizza Hut reading log
every month to earn a coupon for Pizza Hut! You can turn it in whenever the goal is accomplished. If your child reads
all six months they will get to choose something from the Book It prizes. Nov. 16 -- News 4 weather presentation w/ Steve
